3-Step Manual Beta Installation Guide

Follow these simple steps to load the unpacked extension in Google Chrome or any Chromium browser (Brave, Edge, Arc).

Download & Extract

Download the extension archive and extract (unzip) it into a dedicated folder on your computer (e.g. Documents/group-watcher-extension). Make sure to extract the files before proceeding.

Enable Developer Mode

Navigate to your Chrome extensions manager and toggle on Developer mode in the top right corner.

Load Unpacked

Click the Load unpacked button in the top left and select the extracted folder containing the extension files.

Ready! Pin to toolbar and sign in.

Chrome Web Store Beta Channel

Group Watcher is currently distributed via manual unpacked installation for beta testers while our official Chrome Web Store listing is under review. One-click store installation and automatic background updates will become standard once store certification completes.

Required Permissions & Security Boundaries

The extension requests only minimal permissions necessary to authenticate and scan your configured Facebook groups.

Verifies your active Facebook session for scan authorization without ever requesting, reading, or storing your Facebook passwords.

Allows the extension to read visible posts in your user-configured Facebook groups during active scan sessions. Never accesses private messages or personal profiles.

Maintains local background scan scheduling intervals configured by you, waking the service worker to check for new discussions.

Facebook Campaign Sync & Human-in-the-Loop Review

The extension connects with your Group Watcher campaigns to extract public group posts for AI qualification and drafting.

Once loaded, click the extension icon in your browser toolbar, log in with your Group Watcher account, and select your active Facebook campaigns. Ingested posts stream into your web dashboard in real time, where AI provides relevance scoring and draft reply suggestions. Group Watcher never posts autonomously—you stay in complete control of every response.

Updating to New Extension Releases

Whenever a new update is released, simply download the latest package, replace the files in your existing extension folder, and click the refresh (reload) icon on the extension card in chrome://extensions.
